Packaging of Spirulina

I was at a natural health food store the other day. Naturally I asked to see the spirulina products they were carrying. To my shock and (perhaps disgust), the spirulina tablets they were selling were packed in a transparent PE bag. I asked why they were packed in this manner, the store keeper said nothing was wrong with the packaging. Why I am shocked is because the PE packaging is simply not good enough. As far as I am concerned, the most valuable nutrients in spirulina are the carotenoids. These carotenoids are easily oxidized with the PE packing. Ideally, the best packaging for spirulina products is tainted glass bottle, with a packet of oxygen absorber. This will ensure the products stay as fresh as possible.
